We are two ordinary history teachers from Singapore who have an extraordinary appetite for offbeat adventures, slow travel, and delicious food.

et (aka engtat/tat/ted) is a self professed city rat, who somehow finds himself being dragged reluctantly to explore swamps, mountains and longhouses by the love of his life.

sy (aka sheena) is proud to be called a jiamkachng (Hokkien for buttocks that cannot sit still). She’s constantly driven by wanderlust, and has an insatiable thirst for adrenaline-filled adventures, often at the expense of her long-suffering husband.

et + sy wedded in June 2014 (read more about our story and wedding on The Wedding Scoop here!) and etsy/explores was born out of the desire to document our adventures together as well as to share our discoveries with you!

We believe that travel is a way of life. Our jobs don’t allow us to travel as often as we would like to (for now), but we make the most out of it by exploring our backyard and seeking new perspectives in the ever-changing landscape of Singapore. As recent converts of the Slow Travel movement, when we do go to other countries, we seek to surprise ourselves by connecting with the locals and venturing off the beaten path.

We believe that travel is made more meaningful in a community. Whether we’re researching on new restaurants to eat at, cities to visit, or adventures to embark on, we’re heavily dependent on travel blogs and the advice of those who’ve been there and done that. Similarly, we hope that sharing our experiences and lessons learnt can be our way of contributing back to the community.
